Today, we had our forest school session to kick start our new science topic, which is light. We made dens using the resources available with the aim to make the darkest den we could. For this we discussed how we can make it dark and we realised we needed to block out all of the light possible. We worked well as a team and showed great problem solving skills.

Today we had our first forest school session of the new school year and we explored different rocks and soil formations we could find as this linked in with our science topic this term. We also did a small rock experiment of our own using water to separate the different layers.
6th December
Today, we enjoyed a winter's forest school session. We began with some delicious hot chocolate at basecamp. This was followed by a session focusing on our DT topic of levers and mechanisms. We used forest materials to build a catapult. We thought about how we can make our catapult through further and also thought about the amount of force we needed to use. We had great fun and got very muddy.

Today, the whole school were treated to a scooter display from the BMX academy in the playground. We then participated in a workshop where we learned various tricks (like a 'bunny hop!') and went over a ramp. Terry, the instructor, demonstrated how resilience and determination are important qualities to help us achieve in school and in our wider lives.
