Our Vision and Values

Our academy is a voluntary controlled Church of England academy. Longney CE Primary was founded in 1853 and began in the church of St Laurence, opposite our school before our main building was constructed and we have a strong link with the church today.

Our Vision

Our vision statement is 'Building Community, Enriching Lives' and this is underpinned by our motto 'Love your neighbour as yourself and treat others as you wish to be treated.' Matthew 22: 34 - 40. We work together as a community, we respect and value everyone  for who they are as Jesus taught us to do. We support each other to help everyone achieve their potential and to live 'Life in all its fullness' John 10:10

The school vision of ‘Building Community’ can be seen in the pupil’s positive attitudes towards school...... As a result, the school’s inclusive nature ensures that all are welcomed, celebrated and enabled to flourish. SIAMS report March 2019

An environment where children are valued as individuals and whose talents are given every opportunity to flourish. SIAMS report March 2014

“The core purpose of any Church school is to maximise the learning potential of every pupil within the love of God.” (Valuing All God’s Children, May 2014)

Our Christian Values

Our Christian Values are at the centre of everything we do at Longney CofE Primary Academy. Children are given multiple opportunities throughout the year to reflect on what each value means to them as members of our learning community. This is done explicitly through our Collective Worship time, but also throughout our curriculum. We celebrate these values in action each Friday, in our Celebration Worship, where we acknowledge children who have demonstrated these values.

We are lucky to be visited by our local reverend who regularly leads our worship to help us to reinforce our understanding of each value as they share stories from the Bible. Children also have opportunities to plan, prepare and lead worship for the whole school through class assemblies.

Our Distinctively Christian Values are...

Respect

So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you (Matthew 7:12)

Friendship

Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.

(1 Thessalonians 5:11)

Courage

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go. (Joshua 1 9:11)

Perseverance

Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. (Romans 5 3:4)
