Home Learning

UPDATE 05/07/2020

Only two weeks left in the term, it is going so fast. It will be great to see more of the year five pupils this week, hope you're looking forward to being back.

We were a little disappointed with the ending of 'The Seeds of Doom' in class, so we had a go at writing some of our own. There were some interesting ideas! I have selected a new book for this week, so go check out PurpleMash.

Please see this weeks uploads above (CanDoMaths & 'Oak Academy' timetable).

Stay safe,

Mr Hanrahan
UPDATE 28/06/2020

Hope you are all weathering the storm (metaphorically and literally), please find above this weeks CanDoMaths and 'Oak Academy' timetable for both year 5 and 6. We're on our final chapter of 'The Seeds of Doom', so head over to PurpleMash and read how this exciting tale ends!

Stay safe,

Mr Hanrahan
UPDATE 21/06/2020

Another week, another set of uploads.

I hope you are all well? Make sure to still give Dojo a check every now and then, as there will still be tasks going up on there through the week. Also, if you get a chance, read along with those in school on PurpleMash. The Seeds of Dome is our current book, we are a few chapters in but they are short and it wouldn't take long to catch up.

Stay safe,

Mr Hanrahan
UPDATE 15/06/2020

See this weeks CanDoMaths resources and 'Oak Academy' timetables above.

UPDATE 08/06/2020

Please find above this weeks CanDoMaths resources and a timetable of the weeks 'Oak Academy' lessons.

A quick note about Oak Academy, if you are having a go at the foundation lessons then some will be part of a sequence or unit of work. In these cases it is always most effective to go back to the first lesson, this way the knowledge discussed will be built upon.

Finally, if you do want more options for daily lessons then BBC Bitesize is another resources that I know many of you have already been using but just in case you've not come across it, go check it out.

Stay safe,

Mr Hanrahan
UPDATE 01/06/2020

I hope you're all well and you've managed to spend sometime, over the last week, enjoying the beautiful weather.

As we are starting to have an increased number of pupils returning to school, there will be a few changes to the structure of 'Home Learning'. Don't worry though, there will certainly still be lots for you to do and the majority of it will be in line with the learning taking place in school.

I have attached my weekly timetable above, you can follow this in the same time frames I have set or fit it around the routine you've established at home. I will briefly explain some of the elements.

https://www.thenational.academy/online-classroom/schedule/#schedule - Oak National Academy  is a fantastic resource that provides year group specific daily schedules of lessons that cover English, Maths, P.E. & a range of other areas of the curriculum. All the learning is fully modelled and the tasks are very accessible.

Secondly, I will still be using Purple Mash to set each weeks reading tasks, you can also find spelling support on there that links to the 12 weeks worth of spellings in your green books (there at the bottom of this page too).

Finally, Class Dojo will still be used to upload tasks and I will do my best to give feedback and respond to messages but this will not be at the same frequency as before. I have been so impressed with how well you've engaged with Dojo and it's great to see what you've been up to at home, so please keep this up.

That's all for now (hope it makes sense), as with all changes I'm sure there will be bumps along the way so please be patient with us as we take the next step back to normal practice.

Stay safe,

Mr Hanrahan

(p.s. if you're looking for extra, I will still be uploading the CanDoMaths weekly resources (see above))
UPDATE 17/05/2020

Another week of Maths and English tasks uploaded above. Remember to check in regularly with Class Dojo. If you need to ask me questions about any of the learning or just want some support, you can message me directly on Class Dojo and I will get back to you, hopefully with some answers.

It seems like a long road at the moment but you've all been doing amazingly, it is so great to see another 400+ piece of learning shared on Class Dojo this week. You should all be proud of yourselves. Keep up the good work.

Stay safe,

Mr Hanrahan
UPDATE 11/05/2020

Happy SATs week Swift class, make sure you keep an eye on Dojo this week as I'll be posting some (Silly) SATs.

Please find above this weeks CanDoMaths and Hamilton Trust English daily tasks.

Stay safe,

Mr Hanrahan
UPDATE 02/05/2020

Another week, another set of tasks (above). Remember to pick and choose the task you're interested in. There is also Dojo if you'd rather (or as well as) do the activities on there.

I hope everyone is hanging in there. How did we already get too MAY?

Hopefully we will all see each other soon.

Stay safe,

Mr Hanrahan
UPDATED 26/04/2020

Another weeks worth of Maths (CanDo) and English (Hamilton Trust) activities to download above.

Also, a quick reminder to head over to Class Dojo if you haven't already and set up your pupil and parent accounts (emails were sent out). We've nearly got the whole class involved.

Stay safe,

Mr Hanrahan
UPDATED 17/04/2020

Even though I will not be seeing many of you (yet) I would like to welcome everyone back for the Summer term. Hope you didn't eat too much chocolate!

Please find this terms 'Newsletter' below that runs through some information about parents accounts on ClassDojo and gives details of the schedule 'home leaning' activities will take going forward.

I will be uploading new 'home learning' packs for those that would like to access them, you should see them above. I have done my best to include answers and guidance, where possible, so these can be used most effectively at home.

Stay safe,

Mr Hanrahan

p.s. I will leave the previous home ;learning packs' on this page, so those that have not accessed them yet still have the option too.

p.p.s. keep an eye out for updates on ClassDojo!
UPDATED 30/03/2020

Morning all,

I hope everyone is okay and you're all keeping busy. Just a quick update as a few things have changed.

I know that some of you have been having issues saving work (specifically SPAG task) on PurpleMash so I will only be using it for Maths and Reading tasks moving forward, as these seem to work okay. Thank you to those that have been completing tasks on there, you're all doing a great job.

On Friday 27th March parents should have received login information for Class Dojo by email, I can already see that some pupils have started to use it. I am hoping this will be a better platform for setting tasks and communicating. So keep an eye on the 'Class Story' page for updates.

Finally, Mrs Tyson has set a R.E. task for this week, you will be able to find it below under 'RE Big Questions'.

Stay safe,

Mr Hanrahan
UPDATED 20/03/2020

Welcome to the Swift Class Home Learning Page.

I will use this page as a way of uploading any work or additional support during the school closure. Please check back regularly for updated information.

I have uploaded a few things to get started:
- a copy of the practical activities mat (this went home on the 20th March)
- weekly spellings (for the next twelve weeks)
- age-specific learning packs (classroom secrets & candomaths)

Lastly, a reminded that pupils not in school will be set daily English and Maths tasks on PurpleMash and are encouraged to take part in the competitions on TimesTableRockstars.
